Fus 20 System is an innovative European project promoting food waste disposer as the cheapest disposal system for organic waste in municipal area. Using the sewer to collect food waste and the wastewater treatment plant to recover more energy (biogas) and more compost materials from the sludge produced, is not only a system which causes less environmental impact than container collecting system but also a system which implies meaningful economic advantages to a municipality in the waste collection system. In order to give a roughly idea of the economic benefit of FUS 20 System, we propose to fill in the blanks with your own data and calculate how many years does it take to reach the break-even-point of the investment. This evaluation doesn't consider the higher expenses in the wastewater treatment plant, on purpose, as they can be as well counterbalanced if the sludge has recycled in a compost plant instead of being disposed of in a landfill.
